Mangrove Tour in Chiriquí, Panama. A world between land and water.

Mangroves are worlds of constant change due to the variation of the tides, which allows you to appreciate diverse biodiversity in the same place and in addition to being one of the richest and safest ecosystems for animals since terrestrial, marine and aerial animals live at this point. .
The roots of the mangroves serve to filter the water and retain the sediment that comes down from the rivers, which this filter helps to keep our oceans free of sediment for the conservation of coral reefs, if the waters of the oceans darken then the reefs would die corals that we have in our oceans.
Sediments are retained by mangroves but in addition to that they are also important in carbon capture. According to calculations by Audubon and Wetlands International, it is estimated that the mangroves of the Gulf of Chiriquí could store more than three hundred thousand tons of carbon per hectare. This could be key to sustainable use, as well as a perfect reason to restore those areas that require it and avoid future projects that endanger this protected area.
Dead Bay is located in Chiriquí and David’s mangroves surround it, making it one of the most impressive places due to its natural wealth. It is home to a large number of bottlenose dolphins, turtles, fish, monkeys and many more animals.
These calm mangrove waters also offer suitable conditions for the birth and breeding of the critically endangered hammerhead shark and sawfish, and are a nursery for many other species such as the titmouse and the black conch.
To protect this valuable resource, the Government of Panama established the David Mangroves protected area in 2007.
